Venaglass — Founding Lead Engineer (Oct 2025 – Present)
Venaglass was building Holly, an agentic AI receptionist and concierge platform designed to operate across real-world building environments. The product aimed to automate front-desk workflows including visitor management, tenant services, deliveries, room bookings, access-related tasks, and internal operational requests through autonomous AI agents.
Joshua joined Venaglass as Founding Lead Engineer, working directly with the CTO to design and ship production agentic AI systems. In a small, fast-moving team, he contributed not only as an engineer but as a technical decision-maker, helping shape how the platform should behave, scale, recover from errors, and interact with both users and external systems.
His work focused on building autonomous, tool-driven agents capable of operating across internal platforms and third-party APIs. These agents were designed to do more than generate responses: they selected tools, called services, managed multi-step workflows, handled state, recovered from failures, and completed real operational tasks inside the product.
Joshua contributed to the design of orchestration logic for complex agent workflows, including state management, tool selection, handoff behaviour, prompt design, memory handling, and failure recovery. This work helped make Holly feel less like a chatbot and more like an operational AI assistant that could understand intent, coordinate actions, and support building workflows from start to finish.
Technically, Joshua worked across backend services, LiveKit-based voice and video agents, API integrations, and AI orchestration. He contributed to systems handling bookings, visitors, deliveries, user context, room data, and tenant services, while also working on integrations with internal tools and external platforms.
As the AI platform evolved, Joshua helped make core architectural decisions around how agents should be structured, how tools should be exposed, how workflows should be coordinated, and how the product could scale beyond isolated demos into a more robust production system.
Venaglass gave Joshua deeper experience at the frontier of agentic AI: building systems where AI interacts with people, APIs, business logic, and physical environments. It demonstrated his ability to operate as a founding engineer, move quickly through ambiguity, and turn emerging AI concepts into working product architecture.
